How do I do the softball hitting?

Pick up the pace and accelerate the bat through the ball. You drop bat speed when the bat makes contact with the ball. The answer is to speed up as you are hitting the ball explode the bat through it. Preserve a loose grip on the bat. Don’t keep your weight on your back foot. Shift your weight from your back foot to your front foot so that you’ll generate more hitting power.

The difference between aluminum and wooden bats in terms of performance is clear enough. However, there’s still a great debate about which of the two types of bats should softball and baseball players use.

If you’re confused as to which type of bat you should use, then I recommend that you read this article. I’ll show you the pros and the cons of using aluminum or wooden bats.

Bat Weight

Let’s begin with the weight. Wooden bats are considerably heavier than aluminum bats. When constructing a wooden bat, there’s always a tradeoff between its weight and its performance. If you want it to have a longer sweet spot, you need to build a bigger bat. But on the down side, it could increase the weight of the bat considerably.

Meanwhile, you can make aluminum bats wider without the added weight. All you need to do is to make the aluminum thinner.

A lighter or a heavier bat depends on the preference of the player. For younger players, I definitely would recommend lighter bats to allow them to practice their swing better without the weight of bat taking its toll on them.

History has produced many great baseball home run hitters such as Barry Bonds who has a home run record of seven hundred and six two home runs and Hank Aaron with seven hundred and fifty five home runs.  And who could have forgotten about Babe Ruth who has a home run record of seven hundred and fourteen?  And despite the differences between baseball and softball like in terms of the length of the game, equipment and field, many softball hitters aspire to become the Barry Bonds, the Hank Aaron or the Babe Ruth of softball.

If you are looking to honing your softball hitting skills and improving your overall game, here are some tips that you and your team can surely apply in your next softball practice session.

Do exercise routines that would help increase your batting power.  For instance, you can do squats, leg presses and weighted dips that strengthens your biceps, triceps, chest and other muscles important for softball hitting.  Do them in a fast pace in order to amplify your bat hitting speed. Keep a lose grip on the bat so that, when you hit the ball, it would pick up more speed. And at the same time, if you keep a firm grip on the bat, you would have a tendency to not let go of it once you need to run around the bases. If you are going to do some strengthening exercises in the gym, do it for a maximum of forty minutes only, three times a week.  Focus on exercises that strengthen the primary muscle groups. Use your back hand to push the bat while your front hand does a pulling motion.  This will help you increase your hitting power while enhancing your follow-through. Remember to have your top hand let go of the bad as this would provide you with more power.  You may find this difficult to practice on at first but if you are able to get the hang of it, you would surely notice an increase in batting power. Make contact with the bottom portion of the ball as this would cause the ball to spin and go farther. Remember to shift your weight from your back foot to the front foot as you hit the ball so that, you would be able to generate more hitting power. When you make contact with the ball, do it slightly in front of where you are as this would help increase your batting speed. When you practice softball hitting, find a place where you feel like you can generate a lot of speed when you hit the ball after the pitcher releases it.  Work hard on establishing this and making yourself comfortable as you do this. When you hit the ball, you need to make sure that your chin is on your front shoulder when you start to swing and when you are done, your chin should be on the back of your shoulder.  This way, your head would be kept down on the ball and help you avoid from expending power too soon.

What are you waiting for?  Follow these tips and be the next best softball hitter there is.
